No tournament in Istanbul this year in the wake of the devastating earthquakes there.

But the WTA apparently was unable to find an alternate venue for the 250. So unless you’re basically in the top 30 on the WTA Tour and can squeeze into Stuttgart, you’re basically out of luck as far as playing opportunities.

Certainly the $100K level of the ITF circuit doesn’t come close to compensations – especially for those who made a deep run in Istanbul a year ago. And there was no expansion of the qualifying – only a 16 draw.
