So did two-time champion Iga Swiatek. And Elena Rybakina. And Coco Gauff.

Andreescu got a tough one, against former No. 1 and still-feisty No. 18 seed Victoria Azarenka.

And they also got a nice court – Simonne Mathieu, which was good for Leylah Fernandez, not so good for Félix Auger-Aliassime.

Somehow, after a slowish start and a brilliant start by Azarenka, Andreescu pulled it out.
