A full rainout day in Berlin Friday meant that the winners of the delayed quarterfinals had to double up and also play their semifinal matches on Saturday.
It appeared to be no problem for both Petra Kvitova and Donna Vekic, who didn’t drop a set in two matches.
In Birmingham, where there have been a few delays this week but nothing drastic, the semifinals went as scheduled.
And No. 1 seed Barbora Krejcikova and No. 2 Jelena Ostapenko made the final (with Krejcikova also making the doubles final and Ostapenko bowing out in the semis).
(Berlin is six hours ahead of EDT; Birmingham is five hours ahead).
