WImbledon over – the WTA Tour goes back to clay.

Two 250-level events in Budapest and Palermo. And another 125, in Iasi, Romania.

It’s a weird transition, but many players who didn’t do much at Wimbledon headed straight back to the clay during the second week.

It’s a brief little period. But unlike the top men, who are showing up at the ATP 250s in very good numbers, the women are for the most part taking a break.

Canadian Carol Zhao was in action at the WTA 125 in Romania, but is out in the first round.
