MORE TENNIS THAN YOU'LL EVER NEED

WTA Tour – Friday, Sept. 15, 2023 final results

Not a shocker when there are shocking results in these tournaments that are sort of interim moments – almost “between tennis season”, as it were.

So the fact that No. 4 seed and wild card Barbora Krejcikova was the only seed left in a decimated San Diego field is par for the court. But even better for the locals is that the other three players left for the semifinals were American.

In Osaka, there is one Japanese player left, wild card Mai Hontama, two Chinese players and young, rising American Ashlyn Krueger – who made the final.

(Osaka is 13 hours ahead of ET; San Diego is three hours behind).
