Iga Swiatek vs Caroline Garcia led it off, with Swiatek holding a 2-1 head-to-head (Garcia’s victory came on home turf for Swiatek, in Warsaw last year).

But they hadn’t played each other in nearly a year.

Garcia was two points away from winning it – after coming back from two breaks down and 0-4 down in the second-set tiebreak. In the end, she couldn’t get it done as Swiatek ran away in the third.
