Those three older dudes are back at it again on the Stadium Court Wednesday, after Andy Murray, Gaël Monfils and Richard Gasquet all won their opening matches Tuesday in Doha.

It was Murray’s first victory of 2024, after going out in his openers in four previous tries.

Monfils waslooking for back-to-back victories for the first time in 2024, and had a potentially winnable one against Zhang Zhizhen.

Gasquet had the biggest challenge, against top seed Andrey Rublev. They had only met once in a completed match (although they were to meet in Doha three years ago before Gasquet withdrew). And in Marseille in 2022, it went to a third-set tiebreak.

In the end, only Monfils got through – barely. While Murray lost – also, barely.
