It’s the day Simona Halep must surely have thought, at times, would never come.
Not long after the Court of Arbitration for Sport shortened her doping suspension and allowed her to return with immediate effect, she’s already back in Miami.
She’s one of a trio of former Grand Slam champions, former No. 1s, who are scheduled back to back to back in the biggest court available on Tuesday. First Venus Williams, then Caroline Wozniacki, and finally Halep (all needing wild cards).
And their opponents, of course.
For Halep, it’s former world No. 2 Paula Badosa.
