MORE TENNIS THAN YOU'LL EVER NEED

ATP Madrid – Thursday, April 25, 2024 final results

If you set your alarm early for Félix Auger-Aliassime, you were rewarded by a three-set victory over an old nemesis, Yoshihito Nishioka.

And later on, it was Rafael Nadal. Two extra treats on a day where the seeded players on the men’s side in Madrid have yet to start play.

Nadal met 16-year-old neophyte, a day after he admitted that if this were Roland Garros (and best of five) he wouldn’t be physically ready and would not play, is going to be a fascinating watch. But it was Goliath slaying David, in quick order.

His contemporary, Richard Gasquet, went down to defeat but played his 1000th ATP-level match. Which is quite a feat.
