Open Court

MORE TENNIS THAN YOU'LL EVER NEED

ATP Madrid – Tuesday, April 30, 2024 final results

Five matches on a court is a lot – especially in the second week of these 1000s when the seeds meet and the competitive, presumably, is tighter.

But as long as it took on the main stadium, Rafael Nadal was fine with it – hoping to suck up every moment of rest after a three-hour match, as he turned it around in 24 hours. In the end, he just didn’t have enough, and Jiri Lehecka had too much, on an emotional night where the only dry eyes in the house were from the man being celebrated.

On the second stadium, Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime had his most impressive win in … well, a long time as he sent Casper Ruud packing in straight sets.

Oh – and the doubles finally started today! All 16 matches on the docket. A lot of upsets of top seeds.

(Madrid is 6 hours ahead of EDT)
