The two-week 1000 situation with Madrid meant that the second week of that event didn’t have many players left. But a lot of players are looking for places to play.

And with the level of players who all find themselves in the same boat, Canadian Gabriel Diallo found himself in Challenger qualifying. The trickle-down effect is real.
Félix Auger-Aliassime was the only Canadian left in Madrid. And in a week where he probably should but a Powerball ticket, he finds himself in the final.
Three Canadian women – Marino, Zhao and Fung – were still on hard court in Japan with Marino making the doubles final with Kimberly Birrell of Australia.
