Félix Auger-Aliassime had the stars aligned for him these last 12 days in Madrid.
On Sunday, he got to make all of it count as he looked for the biggest title of his career in the final.
The same was true for Andrey Rublev, though. And that’s a problem for Auger-Aliassime.
The Canadian was 1-4 vs the Russian, although they’ve played just once since the Marseille final in early 2022. That was a couple of months ago indoors, and it was a tight, close one, won by the Russian.
This one was also tighter-than-tight. But in the end, the Russian prevailed again.
