Bianca Andreescu escaped a Dutch qualifier on Tuesday. And so she was right back out there on Wednesday against No. 6 seed Yuan Yue, who’s risen quickly in the rankings but has only played Wimbledon twice and lost in the first round both times.

So there was certainly plenty of hope there. And Andreescu played a solid match.

Naomi Osaka also was back, and had a good draw in Dutch wild card Suzan Lamens. She, too, is through and so Osaka and Andreescu will meet for the first time in nearly five years, only the second time every.

Rebecca Marino was back again in Nottingham with a tough ask. And Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe were reunited for the first time since Miami – some 2 1/2 months ago. It was like they never left.
