Andrey Rublev, so beleaguered this year, has decided that playing more, nor less, is his antidote.
So after going on the clay after Wimbledon – despite not playing the Olympics – he decided to take a wild card into Washington and get his hard-court summer going immediately.
H was in action, along with new Wimbledon find Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard – the giant Frenchman who made a lot of noise on the grass, and will try to keep that momentum going on a faster hard court.
Also returning for the first time since Wimbledon was Karen Khachanov, another Russian who is not in Paris this week. But he was one and done.
