It took until mid-week of the week before the finals for the last three to make it – helped a great deal by Novak Djokovic’s decision not to play.

It would have been … perhaps helpful for the tournaments that found their top seeds disappearing despite their commitments to know this sooner – because Djokovic surely knew it.

But perhaps that timing was a bug, not a feature.

In the end, Jannik Sinner had few issues. And Taylor Fritz also didn’t have too much trouble beating an on-fumes Daniil Medvedev to open the season finale.
