No. 4 seed Daniil Medvedev, who acted in his loss to Fritz that the season can’t end soon enough, tried to survive against Torino debutant Alex de Minaur. And did.

And the two higher seeds on the doubles side – both of whom were upset on Day 1 – battled to stay alive against each other. No. 3s Koolhof and Mektic prevailed, barely.
