Hometown hero Thanasi Kokkinakis (assuming he had ANY energy left after a tough second-round win over Tomas Etcheverry) was to face No. 2 Korda. But not surprisingly, he pulled the rip cord as he had shoulder issues during his second-round win.

That, and Gaël Monfils is alive and well in Auckland.
