Two Canadians in action as the third round began for the men.

The popcorn match was No. 27 seed Denis Shapovalov against defending champion Carlos Alcaraz, the No. 2 seed.

Somewhat surprisingly, they had only played once – in the third round of Roland Garros in 2023, a match won easily by Alcaraz. This one was pretty routine, too.

The other Canadian, Alejandro Tabilo, now represents Chile. But he’s finally put a few wins together this week even as he came up against a former Indian Wells champion, Taylor Fritz. After losing the first set, Fritz took care of business.

Jack Draper v Jenson Brooksby also had a lot of potential. But Draper was too good.
