Fonseca is coming in fresh from a title at the stacked Phoenix Challenger last week. And it was a window into the future.

Also a lot of American content, with wild card Christopher Eubanks playing Reilly Opelka. Jenson Brooksby, on a protected ranking after serving a “whereabouts” doping suspension, was on the Grandstand. Only Opelka is through.

Canadian Gabriel Diallo, who lost in the final round of qualifying, was in as a lucky loser and was all over Tomas Etcheverry.
