Canadian Gabriel Diallo may have had a few injury concerns in Hong Kong, as he pulled out of the doubles after losing a tough singles matc.

But made the date in Adelaide. Diallo drew qualifier Andrea Vavassori – by far best known for his doubles prowess but an able singles player when he gets an opportunity to play. And lost in straight sets, which tells you he may well not be 100 per cent.

In Auckland, Chilean-Canadian Alejandro Tabilo (a former champion there) was in action, as was Gaël Monfils.

Tabilo got through.
