She played Karolina Muchova, who very much wanted to deny the 19-year-old Canadian her second title at that level. And she played a blinder to do exactly that, against a slightly depleted teenager who still will leap into the top 10 on Monday.

Also in the same general area, the final round of qualifying for the second of the back-to-back WTA 1000s in Dubai.
