Daniil Medvedev has a 7-2 head-to-head against Félix Auger-Aliassime, which would made him a big favorite in their Dubai semifinal on Friday except for a few things.
Medvedev won the first seven, through the 2024 Australian Open. Notably that heartbreaker for the Canadian in the Melbourn quarterfinals in 2022. All were on hard courts and all but one outdoors.
But Auger-Aliassime has won the last two – in straight sets at the Paris Olympics on clay, and in Doha a year ago when Medvedev retired after the first set.
The fans in Acapulco, meanwhile, were treated to a pair of barnburners in the semis, despite the decimation of the draw. And a sprightly final in store, too.
(Santiago is 2 hours ahead of ET; Dubai 9 hours ahead and Acapulco an hour behind)
