Gabriela Dabrowski and her partner Luisa Stefani were looking for a semifinal spot, in the tournament where Dabrowski, then playing with Xu Yifan, won her first big, big title.
That was all the way back in 2017. Sine then, she has lost in the first round four times, but also reached the final in 2024 with Erin Routliffe. They made it.
As for Victoria Mboko and Mirra Andreeva, who were due to play Storm Hunter and Jessica Pegula, they gave them a walkover after, if you were watching their singles clash Monday, you saw Andreeva got treatment on her back in a losing cause. It’s a long stretch away anyway; no doubt neither had any issue with it.
(Miami is on EDT).
