TVA – Bouchard back at the WTA 1000 level

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – The last time Genie Bouchard played a WTA 1000 tournament was in Toronto in 2019.

She gave countrywoman Bianca Andreescu (who went on to win the tournament), all she could handle in defeat in the first round.

It has taken more than three years, and shoulder surgery (and a wild card) to get back to that level.

And she has a great opportunity Tuesday to make some inroads, as she faces American qualifier Kayla Day in the first round of the Guadalajara Open.
