ADELAIDE, Australia – As Novak Djokovic takes the court for his Adelaide final against unseeded Sebastian Korda, there will be questions to be answered early about the state of his left hamstring.
Djokovic tweaked it during his semifinal win over Daniil Medvedev. But after having it wrapped, and taking a couple of anti-inflams, he managed to get through in impressive fashion.
We’ll see how he rocks up Sunday.
After Saturday’s win, he expounded on various things: how his risk-taking on second serve paid off against Medvedev. How Korda’s tennis looks just effortless, and perfect technically.
And he joked that he was going to make that “beautiful tennis” look ugly. Which was a pretty good line.
Djokovic also mentioned that the more “twilight” match time meant there would still be some sun. And that the ball bounced lower and went through the court more quickly when it wasn’t a strict night match.
He also talked about he attended a midnight service to celebrate Orthodox Christmas partly to show his appreciation for how the local community has made him and his team feel so welcome.
He also talked about Carlos Alcaraz’s withdrawal from the upcoming Australian Open.
Here’s what he said.
