Safin and Safina – dynamic (coaching) duo

As close as former No. 1s Marat Safin and Dinara Safina are, how great would it be to see them back out on Tour – as a coaching duo?

The brother-sister duo tested the waters a little bit – maybe? – as they worked with Greek up-and-comer Maria Sakkari in Monte Carlo during the off-season.

The connection was Sakkari coach Thomas Johansson, a Safin friend and contemporary.

‘We were practising quite a lot together, we were spending maybe 2 1/2 hours together every day. They helped me with a lot of things so it was great for me,” Sakkari told Metro UK.
