Open Court

MORE TENNIS THAN YOU'LL EVER NEED

Oz ’14: Azarenka the lefty (vid)

You’ll see this on a practice court every once in awhile, usually always from a player with a two-handed backhand.

Here’s Victoria Azarenka hitting some balls – and playing points – lefty.

It’s a regular part of the Open Court practice regime, because when you go back to your two-handed backhand after that, it definitely trains the muscles to use the left arm more dominantly, as one should.

The only tricky issue for most is the serve, because it’s a much more foreign stroke for a righthander. And you can see Azarenka is pretty basic with it. But she’s pretty good!
