MORE TENNIS THAN YOU'LL EVER NEED

MELBOURNE – Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski and her partner Alicja Rosolska pulled off a nice win in the first round of women’s doubles Wednesday.

The pair, who reached the third round of the U.S. Open doubles, beating Dellacqua and Barty on the way, defeated the new pair of Cara Black andn SaiSai Zheng 6-1, 6-4.

They were down 2-4 in the second set but rolled the rest of the way.

Here are some scenes:

Black played a long time, and successfully, with Sania Mirza. But at nearly 36, perhaps thinking about having another child, she was unsure how much she could commit to a full-time schedule. In 2015, Mirza is playing with Hsieh Su-Wei, who broke up her successful partnership with Shuai Peng towards the end of last year.

As it happens, Dabrowski and Rosolska will get Hsieh and Mirza in the second round. No easy ones.
