Oh, my.
Iconic broadcaster Dick Enberg – well-known to tennis fans from his decades of work at the Grand Slams, has died.
He was 82.
Enberg was much more than tennis, of course. His familiar voice dropped some dulcet fairy dust on multiple sports.
But he had 28 Wimbledons on his resumé among the 71 majors he called until 2011.
Even better, Enberg was, off air, exactly the way he appeared on air. Which is rare. “Pure Class in every way,” former colleague Patrick McEnroe wrote on Twitter. RIP.
