Lotto adds Cornet, Mertens to roster

There have been the usual clothing sponsorship moves in the offseason.

The big one, of course was Simona Halep out of adidas after 4 1/2 years.

The company also dropped No. 15 Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova after nearly a decade. Neither has a long-term replacement yet.

They’re not alone.

France’s Alizé Cornet, who wore Lacoste for eons, is out. She now is wearing Lotto. So is Belgium’s Elise Mertens, who had been with Fila.

Also new-looking this week is Mirjana Lucic-Baroni (last season’s New Balance, from a rag-tag, self-bought assortment) and Tatjana Maria (Yonex, from Sofibella).

There are more, of course.
