When Conchita Martinez was coaching Garbiñe Muguruza during Wimbledon in the absence of coach Sam Sumyk (whose wife was expecting their first child), the Spanish No. 1 won it all.
Martinez stepped aside after that, returning to the Davis Cup captaincy she was later stripped of.
But good news for Muguruza: Martinez is back and already with Muguruza in Doha, where she’ll return to action next week for the first time since losing in the second round of the Australian Open to Hsieh Su-Wei.
This time, though, Sumyk will also be on hand to double-team.
