Myskina quits Russian Fed Cup captaincy

The Russian media outlet Kommersant broke the news that Russian Fed Cup captain Anastasia Myskina has resigned.

Myskina led the team to the 2015 final but they have struggled since.

“I thought about this for a long time, but I wanted to return the team to the World Group. It is a pity that in the end this failed,” she told the website.

The Russian federation accepted her resignation Monday – officially for family reasons. Former ATP Tour player Igor Andreev will replace her for the WGII playoff tie against Latvia April 21-22.

Myskina remains a federation vice president.
