MORE TENNIS THAN YOU'LL EVER NEED

Revenue trumps comfort in towel flap

Everyone knows that there’s nothing less cushy or absorbent than a brand-new towel, especially the multicolored, patterned ones. They’re often coated with fabric softener.

So Novak Djokovic asked for a plain, white towel during his match Monday in Madrid, one of several players to do so.

That happens regularly at tournaments. Usually it’s not a problem.

But in Madrid, it’s a no-no, as umpire Damian Steiner informed Djokovic. Only physios can use the the non-logoed, white ones.

At first Djokovic was somewhat incredulous. Then, he just laughed.

What can you do? Sponsor money speaks.
