Brazilian Igor Marcondes was given a nine-month suspension for a positive Hydrochlorothiazide test.
That’s a diuretic/masking agent, which Marcondes said was contained in a prescribed supplement made by Farma Conde, a Brazilian company.
Countrymen Thomaz Bellucci and Marcelo Demoliner were suspended for the same substance – also provided by Brazilian labs. So you’d think there he’d have steered clear.
The WADA lab noted the tested capsules had far less variation than is common for unintentional contamination. They also weighed 28 per cent less than stated.
No response of any kind from Farma Conde.
