With the baby announcements this week – Martina Hingis, Elena Vesnina – another player has come along and … outdone them both.
Yaroslava Shvedova, a former top-25 singles player and Grand Slam-winning No. 3 women’s doubles player, has announced that she is expecting … twins.
Shvedova, 32, has been out of action since the 2017 French Open because of an ankle injury. Surgery cost her at least the remainder of the season.
Her old doubles partner Sania Mirza is due imminently.
Shvedova said in the Instagram post’s replies that she’s not retired. In fact, she hopes to return in 2019.
