Bertens caps off year with engagement

If a fellow is so in love he thinks your hands are this delicate, you should probably marry him.

And so Kiki Bertens, capping off a huge season, accepted boyfriend Remko de Rijke’s proposal in Bali.

“Ring too small, but that doesn’t matter at all!!” Bertens wrote on Instagram.

De Rijke, who turns 32 Nov. 6, is a former top junior whose career didn’t pan out. He pivoted into to a versatile one-stop shop; he is physio, fitness coach and hitting partner to Bertens.

Starting next year, de Rijke will split that job with Elise Tamaela.
