MORE TENNIS THAN YOU'LL EVER NEED

Tatishvili fined first-round prize money

After multiple ankle surgeries, Anna Tatishvili finally made it back (with a protected ranking) for the first time since Oct. 2017 at the French Open.

She lost 6-0, 6-1 to Maria Sakkari in 55 minutes.

Tatishvili then was fined her first-round cheque of $51,520 US under the “failing to perform to a professional standard” clause.

Except … the Grand Slam committee demanded medical documents, and its own doctor examined Tatishvili before she was allowed to play.

So the various departments need to … communicate?

Israel’s Amir Weintraub, who’d been out since the 2017 Australian Open, lost 6-3, 6-1 to Lukas Rosol in … 43 minutes in the men’s qualifying.
