From 1976-2014, Santiago and Viña del Mar, Chile alternated as hosts of an ATP Tour tournament.
But after sponsorship struggles, the event relocated to Quito, Ecuador in 2015 – only to be moved to Cordóba, Argentina after four years.
But in 2020, the ATP reportedly will return, as the Fillol family again runs the event on an agreement with the tournament owner, the Octagon agency.
It won’t be the original; the tournament in Sao Paulo, Brazil, which had been struggling, will be relocated to Santiago.
The ATP hasn’t confirmed this as yet; Sao Paulo remains listed on the tour’s 2020 schedule.
