In all, 270 male players of all levels entered the first California Championships at the Jack Kramer Club, competing fo $30,000 in prize money.
The tournament kicked off with 10 community rounds in the Fast-4 format, broken down by UTR ranking, followed by qualifying rounds.
By Thursday’s quarterfinals, the established pros fed in, including Sam Querrey, Taylor Fritz, Bradley Klahn and Ernesto Escobedo.
Thomas Laurent, a 21-year-old Frenchmen who plays for the University of Oregon, reached the final out of the qualifying.
USC’s Brandon Holt defeated Fritz in the quarters.
Querrey defeated Laurent 6-3, 6-4 on Saturday to win it.
