BRISBANE, Australia – The Serbian squad was among the last to finally take the court for their ATP Cup debut.

And Novak Djokovic, as the No. 1 singles player, was among the last to finally play.

But at least in the meantime, Djokovic and his crew had a lot of fun and comeraderie on the practice courts at the Queensland Tennis Centre.

While they were all practicing on one court on Friday, Lajovic (the Serbian No. 2) was playing a practice set against Jan-Lennard Struff inside the stadium.

That extra practice paid off Saturday when Lajovic came back from a set down to defeat South Africa’s Lloyd Harris in the opener against South Africa.

With five-player teams, plus (often) a playing captain, most of the squads have sort of been dispersed on various practice courts all week.

Finally, on Saturday night, they’re getting down to business.
