Another knee surgery for del Potro

The star-crossed tennis career of Juan Martin del Potro has suffered another setback, as he’ll undergo knee surgery Monday in Miami.

Del Potro fractured his patella in a freak on-court incident in Shanghai late in 2018. And he hasn’t played much since.

He returned in Delray Beach the following February and played three tourneys on the clay.  But he injured the knee again in a win over Denis Shapovalov at Queen’s Club. Then, surgery.

An (optimistic) return in Stockholm this fall didn’t happen.

Despite doing everything non-surgical, del Potro still has pain even doing simple things like walking up stairs.
