As Félix Auger-Aliassime tries to recover from jet lag AND take on his first-round opponent in Acapulco, a look back at the only previous meeting between the Canadian and Aussie Alex Bolt.
It came just a month ago, in the quarterfinals of the Adelaide International.
That tournament was close to a home tournament for the 27-year-old Bolt, who was born and raised in Murray Bridge, about an hour’s drive and 45 minutes east.
But he was no match for Auger-Aliassime, who dispatched him 6-3, 6-0. The 19-year-old dropped just four points on serve.
The conditions tonight will be … somewhat similar in Acapulco, although probably more humid.
The stadium will be a bigger one, and not covered with a partial roof.
The big question will be to see what kind of shape Auger-Aliassime is in, after three straight tournaments indoors in Europe, and a lot of tennis – and a long flight.
Here’s what it looked like in Adelaide.
