SBD – Italian Open women’s preview

No sooner does the US Open end, but the Italian Open begins.

It’s begun already, with two rounds of qualifying already completed.

The tournament features six of the top 10 women (which is more than the US Open boasted, although the cast of characters is different).

Barty and Andreescu are still out. Naomi Osaka is taking a pass after her effort in New York.

And defending champion Karolina Pliskova isn’t even among the top-five favorites.
