Plenty of Canadian content as wild card Vasek Pospisil and qualifier Brayden Schnur took the court for their first-round singles matches.
Unfortunately, both went down to defeat. Pospisil, notably, struggled as he often does in the extreme conditions.
And the All-Québec team of Félix Auger-Aliassime and Alexis Galarneau – we’ll call them “Félixis” – got a pair of tough Russians in their ATP debut in doubles together.
They had a few looks, but fell to Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublev 6-4, 7-6 (6).
