The singles final in Nur-Sultan worked out exactly according to plan.
No. 1 seed Yulia Putintseva – the home girl – met No. 2 seed Alison Van Uytvanck Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately for the homeys, it was the Belgian who pulled off a comeback win.
In Chicago, which is a lot closer to Indian Wells, the semifinals in both singles and doubles took place.
And the ticket buyers on centre court didn’t get much bang for their buck. Marketa Vondrousova gave Garbiñe Muguruza a walkover. And Elena Rybakina retired down a set and a break to Ons Jabeur.
