Boo!
Could you ask for a better Halloween script than Simona Halep going for the title in her homeland – the Transylvanian part of her homeland?
And in doing so, she would knock Anett Kontaveit – who has been on a winning streak for two weeks now trying to grab that final spot at the WTA Finals – out of that race.
But Kontaveit was on just too good of a roll. Unplayable.
Not only that, Donna Vekic was into her first final in two years in Courmayeur. And she faced Clara Tauson, a teenager who doesn’t get nearly as much attention as the others, but who quietly keeps winning.
But on this way, it was Vekic, in straight sets.
