MIAMI, Fla. – The Canadians blew out out early in the singles draws. So the only ones who made it to the “second week” of the Miami Open (really, mostly to the second round) were in doubles.
A highlight was Denis Shapovalov, with Rohan Bopanna, upsetting the No. 1 seeds Pavic and Mektic.

Is Filip Peliwo representing Poland now?
…. not to my knowledge.
The ATP website lists him as Polish, which is strange then….
No, not that strange.
There’s often a gap between a player deciding he represents a country and that being accepted through the ITF.
He has played Davis Cup for Canada, so it’s complicated.
A little bit like Ajla Tomljanovic “representing” Australia per the WTA for quite a while. And, eventually, she was “officially” allowed to by the ITF, and then play Fed Cup.
His parents have moved back to Poland and he made it his base for most of last year – much cheaper to travel to tournaments from there, many more close by.
I’ll keep you posted.
