EASTBOURNE, England – Serena Williams’s return to competitive play Tuesday was a success.
And perhaps the lesson is to never count out a champion. Because her match with Ons Jabeur against Sara Sorribes Tormo and Marie Bouzkova was … not going their way. At all.
Yet somehow, they found a way in a dramatic match tiebreak in which they frittered away a few match points, before a drop shot from Jabeur sealed the deal.
Here’s what they said afterwards. There obviously were many more questions to be asked, but Williams was in charge. 🙂
