She fell short, but Genie Bouchard and Yanina Wickmayer made the semifinals in doubles in dramatic fashion.

Meanwhile, in Portoroz, the under-the-radar top seed Emma Raducanu (must be refreshing for her) vies for the quarterfinals, after winning her first round on a retirement from her opponent two points from a potential finish.

This time, it was Raducanu who came up with a left leg injury. And although she finished the match, it was just another disappointment in terms of her body letting her down. And not for the first time this year.
