GUADALAJARA, Mexico – The tennis gods often aren’t kind to Canadian fans in terms of their distribution of the matches involving their players.

And so it is that Bianca Andreescu, Rebecca Marino and Leylah Fernandez all were in action Monday at the Guadalajara Open.

The first two won their matches in straight sets, while Fernandez lost a battle to Belinda Bencic.

Genie Bouchard, the fourth in the main draw, will play Tuesday, as will Andreescu and Marino in their second-round matches.
